MEET THE CANDIDATES
LLOYD BLANK
My objective in applying for a board position is to use my experience to contribute to Flying L continuing to be a premier place to live in the Texas Hill Country. I have lived in Texas for 10 years, 3 in the San Antonio area and the past 8 months in Flying L. Over 35 years I have had opportunities to be a part of numerous boards and serve in positions of leadership for organizations. For 17 years I worked for Dupont Chemical in Quality Control. The last 18 years I have served as an ordained Pastor at multiple churches across Mississippi, Alabama and Texas. I currently serve at Community Bible Church in San Antonio as Executive Pastor. My experience as a Pastor has been working with committees to accomplish the mission of the church. I have considerable experience with finances, building projects and business leadership over my career.
SANDY BREDLAU
Allow me to introduce myself, I am Sandy Bredlau. I’ve lived on the ranch for over 7 years, made some great friends, and witnessed various changes. I’m interested in serving on the POA board and if elected, I will work tirelessly to serve the Community and the Board. I’m a great listener, effective communicator, and will treat everyone with empathy and respect. I hope to strengthen relationships by ensuring all concerns are addressed. Meet with Builders in the community to discuss expectations, adherence to the rules, and establish accountability. Support homeowners and mitigate concerns. Validate home listings ensuring amenities/memberships are not misleading. Maintain a strong working relationship with the Ranch. Also, confirm Zoom is operational to engage in meetings if unable to attend. My experience includes supporting startups and established companies by managing contractors, developing processes, ensuring Local, State and Federal compliance, oilfield, commercial construction, industrial maintenance, and law enforcement
STEVE CHILDERS
I have lived in the Flying L since Aug 2018. For 5 of those years, I served as a board member/admin of the PUD. We made many system upgrades, I built the PUD website, as well as the POA website. I implemented the IRIS alert system and wrote the quarterly PUD newsletters. Resident communication and transparency is very important. I strongly believe, the role of these board positions is to serve the residents rather than imposing fines and penalties. I left the PUD last summer before the Oct water crisis, and being retired, I have time to devote to our beautiful community. So please vote for me as POA Board Member.

Texas has been my home for most of my life and my family is here. I grew up in different parts of the state and prefer the small-town lifestyle. I retired from teaching at the elementary level after 36 years. Two critical traits that I believe are essential when working with children and adults are honesty and fairness. I have always wanted to live in the heart of the hill country. The Flying L Ranch became my home over two years ago. It has truly become my “happy place.” There is an amazing sense of community here that has allowed me to make many new friends in a short time. I would love the opportunity to serve the people here in a positive way to the best of my ability. Thank you so much for your consideration.

Greetings to the members of the Flying L POA. My name is Dan Knight and I am interested in continuing to serve as a board member. I have been on the Board since 2022. My wife, Angie, and I relocated to the Flying L community from the Tomball area after 28 years of residence in the Heatherwood community. We have two daughters, the eldest is currently an RNBSN at Methodist Hospital San Antonio, while our youngest is currently in the PT program at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Amarillo. I attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, graduating in 1990 with a BBA in Finance. Following graduation, I embarked on a career in the real estate industry focusing on commercial real estate appraisal and consulting services. For the past almost 20 years, I have been a job manager for an appraisal firm representing approximately 35 client banks nationwide. I would like to stay involved in our community and serve the Flying L to maintain its beauty, quality and unique character.

My name is Larry Mensch and I am running for re-election on the Flying L Ranch POA board. My wife Jodi and I reside on Flying L Ranch. I have served as ACC chair as well as POA vice chairman of board of directors. While serving as ACC chair, and POA vice chairman of the board of directors I have become very familiar with the current By-Laws and Covenants of Flying L Ranch and have held a role in enforcing the Flying L By-Laws and Covenants. I retired five years ago and am blessed that I have time now for volunteer work. I feel it is only fair to serve, and desire to keep this neighborhood a place where people are happy to live and enjoy their homes and their lives. I desire to use my time and energy to help all of us succeed in maintaining our property values. I will strive to communicate with you, and do my duties as transparently as possible so that you can see into the decisions being made on your behalf by your elected representatives. I will be open and honest in my work, because integrity has always guided me in my life. Thank you, and I would appreciate your vote.

I have been a resident of the Flying L Community since 2021 and have been a member of the ACC Committee for the last few months. I am an Air Force Veteran who believes in giving back to the communities I am a part of. I worked for the Texas Veteran's Commission for 24 years as the Director of Claims, leading a team of over 150 members. After retiring from the State of TX, I continued to support Veterans by joining the Silver Sage team as the Veterans Grant Coordinator. In this role, I manage a large grant designed to support Veterans in Bandera and the surrounding counties who are struggling financially. I believe the Flying L is a community we should be proud to live in and working together is the only way to achieve this goal. I have spent my life leading teams and building relationships and believe I could be a positive influence on the board.

I am running for a position on the POA Board because as a property owner and concerned resident, I want to help ensure that everyone in our community gets the most benefit out of the allocations of our dues – and so that I can help the community by utilizing my 40+ years of construction (commercial and residential) and construction management. I feel my skills, expertise, and specifically my extensive knowledge in MEPs and utilities, will benefit the ACC by helping to make sure that the restrictions are reasonable, feasible and adhered to, and will prove an asset to the Roads Committee by helping to ensure all road work is coordinated between the Ranch, the POA and the PUD to reduce mobilizations and gain the economies of scale. Education is BBA in Business Management
